LaserMedics HandLaser® 

The HandLaser® is a small hand held biostimulation medical laser device to be use at home or anywhere you go. Developed and manufactured in Germany in 1999, the HandLaser® is designed with a medical class 3A laser diode. 

The laser output is just 5mW and the wavelength is 650nm, in the Red Spectrum, which is effective for biostimulation. Special lens collimates the laser beam and the probe is protected by high grade metallic materials as used in surgical and medical devices. 

The HandLaser® conforms with EU93/42/EEC medical directives guideline as required of a medical devices and is a Class 2A medical device in Europe. The HandLaser® also received CE certification for conformity with the essential health and safety requirements set out in European Directives (CE- 0124) 

The HandLaser® is not a light or lamp or LED. The special characteristics of laser light (Single Wavelength, Monochromatic, Coherent and Collimated) is very important for effective biostimulation, whereas light from a lamp or LEDs, although is possible to emits monochromatic beam is non-coherent and not collimated. 

Healing Red light without harmful Blue light

The HandLaser® produces only Red (650nm) cold laser beam. Blue light is not used because of the UV exposure to skin which might leads to possible hyper-pigmentation skin problems , especially for those with hyper-sensitive skin conditions. 

How to operate the HandLaser® 

The use of the HandLaser® is very easy. The device is powered by 2 AAA batteries. Open the battery cover at the back and insert the batteries according to instructions indicated on the back of the device. Check the correct polarity of the batteries while inserting them. 

Press the "Power" button to turn on the device. You should be able to see the laser beam after the device is turn on. The laser beam does not emits heat. Nevertheless you should avoid looking directly at the beam. 

Using the HandLaser® for treatment of Acne 

Acne is a chronic inflammatory affection, damaging a pilosebaceous unit multifactorially. Hyperkeratinization and obstructions of sebaceous follicles appear. Increased level of androgenes stimulates increase of production of sebum and multiplication of bacterial flora, particularly of Propionibacterium Acnes, causing successive inflammatory manifestations.

Acne is classified according to the scope of affection. For cosmetic purposes it is usually suitable to distinguish between Primary Acne without inflammatory symptomas, and Secondary Acne accompanied by inflammatory manifestations, or between superficial and deep acne. 

For Secondary Acne (raw skin and inflammatory conditions) always maintain a distance of 1-2 cm away from the area of treatment. Shine the laser beam directly on the acne areas. For Primary Acne ( without inflammatory conditions) the metallic probe can touch the skin directly. 

Other Cosmetics Applications of HandLaser® 

The HandLaser® is also suitable for other cosmetics applications, for therapy of fine scars, cracked skins, fine wrinkles, herpes, small wounds, acute and chronic colds. However the HandLaser® is not intended to be a replacement or as a substitute for medical treatment by your health care provider. 

LLLT Therapy Dosage 

Each treatment takes not more than 3 minutes. Since for LLLT to be effective dosage and frequency is of utmost importance. 

Therefore the HandLaser® comes with a build in timer - for 3 minutes the power shall be shut off automatically, however, even a longer application is not dangerous. 

The HandLaser® can be used up to 3 to 5 times a day over a long period of time. 

Should there be no improvements after 4 days of using the HandLaser® , do consult your physician. If the diagnosis confirms with the HandLaser® intended applications, it is safe to continue using the HandLaser® until full recovery
